Sarah, the great Matriarch of Judaism and Islam, Wife of Abraham and mother to Itzhak. Her image carrying a child showed endurance in hardship, patience in prayer and hope to barren women, since Sarah gave birth only once, in the age of 90 according to the bible. This piece is influenced by the Canaanism artistic movement that was present in Israeli art in the 1930-40’s, representing the Jewish people coming to their home following the image of their biblical ancestors. The writing on the base of the piece means Sarah in Hebrew and the figurine is made of ivory.
